A Little Pawprint With a Big Story.
Few people will ever see a wild leopard in the Cape mountains, and maybe that’s part of what makes them so special.
Quiet, elusive, and deeply woven into the Cape Fold Mountains, these incredible animals move largely unseen through landscapes that many of us love to hike and explore. Protecting them takes collaboration, research, education, and ongoing support, which is why the work of Cape Leopard Trust matters so much.
It’s also why this partnership means so much to us at The Heartfelt Project.
Not because it’s flashy or complicated. Because it connects people, purpose, and conservation in such a beautifully simple way.
Together, we’ve created a collection of handmade merchandise that supports the important conservation work of the Cape Leopard Trust while also creating meaningful work for the women of Heartfelt who handcraft each item in Makapanstad.
Tiny Handmade Pieces With a Big Purpose.
The collection includes: Pawprint cards, Brooches, Bookmarks & Keyrings
Each piece is stitched and assembled completely by hand, making every item unique. Tiny felt pawprints, earthy colours, soft textures, and thoughtful details give them that unmistakable heartfelt feel - the kind of thing people pick up and instantly smile at.
They make beautiful gifts for nature lovers, children, bookworms, friends, or anyone who appreciates thoughtful South African craftsmanship with a deeper story behind it.
But what we love most is what these items represent.
Every purchase helps support local women working through Heartfelt, while also helping fund conservation, education, awareness, and research at the Cape Leopard Trust.
That’s a pretty special chain of impact for something small enough to fit in your pocket!
Why Partnerships Like This Matter
At Heartfelt, we’ve always believed that handmade things carry something powerful with them: care, dignity, hope and connection.
What started years ago with small felt hearts has grown into a community of women creating meaningful products that support families, opportunity, and local livelihoods in Makapanstad, just outside Pretoria.
And partnerships like this remind us how connected everything really is. A handmade bookmark in someone’s home can help support a woman earning an income. A small pawprint brooch can help spark a conversation about conservation. A simple purchase can help support the work being done to protect the leopards of the Cape.
The Quiet Impact
Somewhere tonight, a leopard will move silently across a mountain ridge while a handmade pawprint in someone’s home helps protect its future.
And we think that’s something worth celebrating!
