MAKING INROADS
Posted on April 24 2024
We’ve got a very BIG thank you to say. And even just thinking about saying it puts a lump in our throats. For the past ten years, in so many incredible ways, BDO South Africa has been part of our Heartfelt journey and family. It all started with the very special Berton Bosman, who was a dear friend to both Julie and Martha. He believed in Heartfelt from its inception and because of it – in his own persuasive way as one of the BDO Pretoria partners - got BDO to buy into the Heartfelt vision too.
After his sad passing, BDO continued to support Heartfelt– not only to honour Berton’s vision – but also because BDO is an auditing firm run and managed by people with integrity and heart.
Over the past two years in particular, BDO have put their money where their mouth is and supported us through supplier development, grant contributions and auditing services. They have given us so much in terms of moral support, business support and operational support. They have stood firm to their word and helped us Transition. Grow. Breathe.
We’ve been able to support the Makapanstad community, build a social enterprise that is strongly rooted in systems and processes and help make a difference in an area where growth matters. As many small businesses know, it’s not always easy to keep one’s accounting practices in check, but we have weekly meetings, a kick-ass cloud-based accounting package and a team of BDO people who are patient with us and truly get where we are coming from. They have more than a vision – they have our interests at heart.
So as we end-off 2016 - symbolically our last order being for BDO - we understand that we are walking this journey together. Through an ever changing and challenging South African environment, united we stand. In unity we believe we can make a bigger difference. Small inroads (one at a time) for sustainable change. Our vision is long term. Our goal – the same. To bring hope. To be the change we want to see. To focus on one place. So that in another ten years we’ll be able to see just how much progress we have made.
