We had such a fun time at Beadex 2008! Not only did we get to meet some of our special heartfelt customers, but the ladies got to learn new beading techniques and show visitors how they sew their unique creations. A lot of women making locally produced crafts, struggle to make a living due to the fact that they are far removed - both geographically and conceptually - from potential markets. (It was Nthabisengs first trip to Johannesburg - so needless to say an experience she will never forget). Beadex helped bring together our rural women producers and designers to help with future development of innovative, high-value product lines that are responsive to local and international design trends and niche markets. What was so special about Beadex was that the ladies were given the opportunity to meet buyers, take part in the retail market and connect with a larger context of taste, trend and consumption.
